Decision Support System Development for Schedule of Courses in STMIK Bandung Bali

Abstract

At the beginning of each semester, every Higher Education Institution always prepare a lecture schedule. For private university, i.e. STMIK Bandung Bali, lecture schedule compilation often cause many problems. The highest frequent of problem is timetable clashes that impact on the chaotic and not a smooth course in the early weeks of lectures. These conditions occur because of the limited time that could be used for lectures and still very dependent STMIK Bandung Bali with part time lecturer who have very limited teaching time readiness.

Making a Decision Support System in determining the lecture schedule to be an urgent need for STMIK Bandung Bali. Based on the analysis of the things that result in problems related to this scheduling, it is known that the main factors that cause timetable clashes are the courses taken by students. Some of the courses taken by students are often allocated on the same schedule, so must choose one. As a result they have to do PRS (Plan Change Study). The next problem is the problem of the appointment of lecturers, including teaching time readiness. Certain subjects are allocated to a particular teacher, which means only scheduled at certain times. The possibility to change the schedule becomes very small.

Methodology used in the development of this system is The Classic Life Cycle is based on various input and perform analysis of work procedures set forth in the data flow diagram (DFD) and entity relationships diagram (ERD). The development of this system are expected to produce an effective scheduling system so that the scheduling of courses will be faster
