Abstract

The main problem that can not be avoided in the gaming network is latency. Latency bound to happen given the data transmission on the network takes on media transmission from one computer to another. The purpose of using this prediction method to reduce the influence of latency. Prediction method that is needed is a prediction method that requires a quick calculation and use a simple formula. The result of calculation of an object's position with the predictions used in case of delay in delivery of packets from the server to the client. The result of these calculations used by the client to visualize the object's position while waiting for the actual data packets from the server. There are several methods of prediction that has a simple formula that is linear extrapolation method and the Catmull-Rom. Both methods have simple calculations will be tested on a multiplayer game program GL-117 fighter falcon. Source code GL-117 games are original, not to provide facilities multiplayer. Tests on the two prediction methods was conducted on three kinds of patterns that tend to track the path that is straight, smooth path and the path of a random pattern. The test results show programming using linear extrapolation method gives fewer errors than the method is to use Catmull-Rom and can be adapted toto the multiplayer GL -117. The test results concluded programming using linear extrapolation method to reduce the influence of latency in multiplayer games
