An Analysis of File Transfer Performance of Prepaid 3G GSM Networks in Denpasar

Abstract

Rapid development of communication and information technology has triggered the growth of cellular operators and its products. The frequent changes and the varieties of pricing has made users to think hard in deciding a product to choose. This research aimes to produce illustration of the prepaid 3G GSM performance especially for the Internet users. After completion of this research, at least one consideration factor has been diminished from the user mind, therefore users just need to think other non-technical factors such as quota, pricing, grace time etc. The research was conducted in the most populated locations in 4 districts of Denpasar, by measuring the download time needed for transferring certain files of every operator. The result was then analyzed by using statistical calculation called Anova: Two-Factors without Replication. The results is there is significant difference of performance between operators and there is no significant difference operator’s performance among districts.
